The L’Oréal Foundation undertakes numerous projects that help spread the scientific culture around the world. In France, for example, the Foundation has been associated with a support project for school-children at the Cité des sciences et de l’industrie since its establishment in 2006. This program is aimed at underprivileged middle and high-school students by trying to help them overcome their aversions to science, which is often the reason for their low academic performance. Almost 4,000 mentorships have been carried out since the project was launched. In France, the Foundation also takes part in the "Scientific Facts" competition aimed at developing a love of scientific experiments among young people. When confronted with real-life projects, middle and high-school students have demonstrated their inventiveness and enthusiasm, once more demonstrating that there is no lack o interest in science among young people.
